Lesher 8th grader Theo Gregory will advance to the 82nd Annual Colorado State Spelling Bee on March 5th!

Ten students came out on top during the Poudre School District Spelling Bee, with each earning a spot to compete in the state spelling bee in March.

Congratulations to these students:

  • Nikhil Ganta, Traut Core Knowledge Elementary School
  • Seleen Burgos, Cache La Poudre Middle School
  • Eden Soasey, Liberty Common Middle School
  • Fay Feng, Preston Middle School
  • Violet Binder, Ridgeview Classical Schools (middle school)
  • Theo Gregory, Lesher Middle School
  • Heidi Leland, Harris Bilingual Elementary School
  • Colby Bass, Johnson Elementary School

Thirty-seven students representing their schools participated in the written spelling bee in late January. Five students earned perfect scores, spelling all 35 challenging words correctly. Because of COVID, there was not an oral round.

The top spellers will compete in the 82nd Annual Denver Post State Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 5, at the University of Denver.
