I have the opportunity to teach Physical and Health Education while coaching football, wrestling, and track at Lesher. As I enter my seventeenth year of teaching with prior experiences in the Midwest and South, my current placement stands as a beacon of distinction. I feel very blessed to teach in a setting where I am surrounded by greatness. From our administration, to my teaching partner, I am driven and supported to be my best by colleagues and leadership that expect the same from themselves.
I frequently comment that my position is not a job or career, but a calling. I am honored for the opportunity to reach students on a deeper emotional level through not only times of growth and success, but also in times of struggle and challenge. I strive to promote a growth mindset by modeling my learning around my own mistakes. Student motivation and performance are the focal points of our practice. Remaining vigilant of student needs and performance serve as the gauge in which to drive our instructional based decisions. As advocates of student development, we work to create an environment where concerns and challenges can be openly expressed to find suitable solutions. As we continue to develop a deeper understanding of analysis, evaluation, and implementation of programming we hope to refine our approaches to best support our diverse population.
