♦ Viking Volunteer Meeting Has Been Changed To Monday November 18 - 5:30 PM ♦

Vikings Give Back!

This month, our focus is Vikings giving back.  As an IB MYP student,  giving back means “service as action” through community service.

Action and service have always been shared values of the IB community. Students take action when they apply what they are learning in the classroom and beyond. IB learners strive to be caring members of the community who demonstrate a commitment to service—making a positive difference in the lives of others and to the environment.

Service as action is an integral part of the IB MYP programme.

During the month of November, students can give back to their community.  Pick up a Vikings Giving Back form in the main office window, cafeteria or visit the link below on the Lesher home page and have your sponsor fill it out and sign to be entered into giveaways. Examples of giving back:

  • help a neighbor shovel snow
  • rake leaves
  • volunteer at the food bank
  • stay after school to help a teacher, etc.

Each “act of service” or volunteering event will counts as one entry.  Turn in your Viking Give Back forms to bin in the main office. So Vikings, let's give back!

♦ Colorado & National Secondary Principal of the Year ♦

Congratulations to our very own Dr. Tom Dodd for being selected in April as the 2016 Colorado Middle Level and Secondary Principal of the Year by the Colorado Association of School Executives (CASE) and the Colorado Association of Secondary School Principals (CASSP). As Colorado's nominee for the National Secondary Principal of the Year award given by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), Dr. Dodd was notified in June that he was 1 of 3 national finalists. As a national finalist he joined conference calls with the NASSP and Lesher students, parents, and staff, submi tted addendum essays, participated in panel discussions, and was interviewed on September 11th by a group of distinguished judges from the education community and NASSP staff in Washington, DC. On October 17th he was recognized as the 2017 National Principal of the Year in a surprise announcement at Lesher during National Principals Month! We're so proud to have Dr. D as the captain of our ship. Go Vikings! Click these links for more on the story:
