Student Grade Transition

This information and documents will provide details concerning student's transition between grades.


Welcome to Lesher Incoming 6th Grade Students!

STUDENT TRANSITION EVENTS/DATES

February 12-16: 6th grade counselor visits all elementary schools to distribute registration materials 

February 27th: ALL REGISTRATION MATERIALS DUE

May 4th: 5th Grade ROW THE BOAT! – all PSD 5th graders visit their middle school for a fun two hour orientation field trip

August 13th  (tentative): 6th Grade Check-in Day - Receive student’s schedule, locker combination, tour school, pay necessary fees, etc.

August 21st: Transition Day – 1st day of school for 6th graders only. Orientation activities led by 8th grade WEB Leaders and 6th grade teachers

First 2 weeks of 6th grade: Base Camp – learn the ropes of Lesher, stay organized with a planner, open your locker, clarify appropriate behaviors, and meet all the important staff members

September: Club Fair – learn about all the clubs, sports, and activities you can join at Lesher

PARENT TRANSITION EVENTS/DATES

February 12-16: Expect a folder to come home with your student with all Lesher registration materials

February 15th: 5:45-6:30 meeting for out-of-district parents & students (non-PSD)

February 27th: ALL REGISTRATION MATERIALS DUE BACK TO LESHER

Beginning of August: Receive a post card with dates of upcoming events and emailed newsletter from Lesher

August 13th (tentative): 6th Grade Check-In Day Receive child’s schedule, locker combination, tour school, pay necessary fees, etc.

2nd Week of School: Back to School Night – walk through your student’s schedule, meet teachers, and receive a brief overview of classe

The following paperwork is due back to Lesher (or your student’s PSD 5th grade teacher) by February 27th to complete registration for each student:
♦ 6th Grade Course Selection Sheet
♦ Home Language Survey (Links below - please complete BOTH sides)

♦ Instrument selection sheet – if your student chooses to participates in band or orchestra
♦ Proof of address – examples include a current utility bill, or a signed lease or mortgage statement; must include parent/guardian name and address
♦ Birth certificate
♦ Immunization records
