"You are who you believe yourself to be". -Paulo Coelho
Raising my 2 beautiful daughters, mountain biking, road biking, snow skiing, water skiing/wake surfing , running, travel (especially to Spanish speaking countries), triathlon, listening to music, and devouring knowledge on how to be the best Spanish teacher I can be.
"How Children Succeed- Grit, Curiosity and the Hidden Power of Character" by Paul Tough was a very powerful book. Traits like self-control, diligence and perseverance are better at predicting future success than IQ, and it is a reminder to teachers and parents that kids are more than just the information they know. A positive, can-do attitude and follow through are essential for achievement.
Spanish 1B (7th & 8th grade) & Spanish 2
My Spanish classes are all about simple immersion. Learning a language should feel natural and enjoyable. Mistakes and errors are not only okay- they are expected, and even encouraged! To effectively communicate, it’s not necessary to be perfect. The only thing that one must do is show up, show willingness to learn and let the brain do what it wants to do naturally- absorb the language through stories, conversation, music and activities fused with cultural study.
